![]() Coarse Angling Holidays at Wallslough, Co. KilkennyWith a beautiful lake stocked with coarse fish Wallslough Village is the perfect place for a holiday for anyone interested in angling. This natural lake is set in a raised depression in the landscape (known as a perched lake because it is higher than the surrounding countryside). In fact the area, Wallslough, is named after the lake as “lough” is Gaelic for lake. Guests to Wallslough Village self-catering holiday cottages can enjoy angling on this stunning lake within a stone’s throw of the cottages. There are wild flowers on the banks and the lake itself attracts a myriad of wild birds. We have resident coots, moorhens, families of various breeds of ducks and frequent visits from swans and herons. This is a peaceful and beautiful haven where you can admire the wildlife or do some coarse fishing. The lake at Wallslough Village is a coarse anglers paradise. For those of you who know your fish the lake is abundantly stocked with a wide variety of fish including Carp (Coy, Mirror, Ghost and Common), large Goldfish, Rudd and eel. The lake is suitable for rod or pole fishing and there are 21 swims around the lake. So whether you want to enjoy some peace and quiet and fish on your own or whether you want to fish with friends there is plenty of space for everyone at Wallslough. We have frequent visits from angling clubs and local regulars who appreciate the surroundings and of course the angling. For the keen angler Kilkenny has two rivers; the Suir and the Nore. Permits can be purchased locally and lessons can be arranged with local anglers. And the coast, with endless sea fishing possibilities, is just an hour’s drive away.
